Partners

Rotating Machinery Technology, Inc.
Founded in 1986, RMT is an industry leader in the service and repair of rotating equipment, specializing in expanders and integrally geared compressors. RMT also leads the industry in the analysis, design and manufacturing of precision engineered replacement parts for high performance turbomachinery, including tilting pad journal bearings, tilting pad thrust bearings, fixed pad sleeve bearings and labyrinth seals.

Dr. John Nicholas of RMT has developed two software programs that can be operated stand-alone, or that can be integrated into XLRotor. These programs include a library of lubricants, and have extensive online help. These programs are sold as one package which can be used with or without XLRotor.

  • POCKET is suitable for designing a wide variety of fixed geometry bearings. The driver XLPOCKET integrates POCKET with XLRotor.
  • TLTPAD is suitable for designing tilting pad radial journal bearings. The driver XLTLTPAD integrates TLTPAD with XLRotor.

Professor Luis San Andres
Dr. Luis San Andrés is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. At its Turbomachinery Laboratory, Luis leads a research program in high speed rotordynamics and process fluid lubricated bearings and seals with funding from NSF and turbomachinery manufacturers. Luis is the author of the hydrostatic bearing module, XLHydst, and the annular pump seal module, XLShSeal, that are part of XLRotor.

Luis teaches undergraduate classes in dynamics, vibrations and modern lubrication theory. His class notes on hydrodynamic lubrication theory make for excellent reading, and can be seen at http://phn.tamu.edu/me626/.   He is also Associate Technical Editor for the ASME Journal of Tribology and STLE Tribology Transactions. Luis is the present Chairman of the Structures and Dynamics Committee from the ASME International Institute for Gas Turbines.

Luis also plays in the Latin rock band Roca Azul and has toured several South American countries in the last few years

 VAVCO, Inc.
VAVCO, Inc. is a private consulting company owned by Dr. John M. Vance, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU). Dr. Vance is affiliated with the TAMU Turbomachinery Laboratory, and is the author of more than 75 technical publications, including the reference book Rotordynamics of Turbomachinery.

Full Spectrum Diagnostics, PLLC
Full Spectrum Diagnostics is a consulting company specializing in vibration
analysis, machinery condition monitoring, and specialized vibration training.
Dan Ambre, the president and owner of Full Spectrum Diagnostics has over
17 years of vibration test, analysis, and design experience in Rotordynamics
applications, Finite Element Modeling, and Experimental Modal Analysis. FSD is
announcing a new course for Rotordynamics Analysis training in 2005 using the
XLRotor Analysis Software Tools provided by Rotating Machinery Analysis, Inc.
FDS also provides detailed turbine generator baseline analysis as a consulting service.

Vibragon
Rotor dynamic problem solving expertise is the cornerstone of VIBRAGON. This expertise results from 42 years of experience at the rotating machinery divisions of United Technologies Corporation and in private consulting. David Hibner, president and a retired Rotor Dynamics Fellow of Pratt & Whitney, specializes in solving "show-stopper" vibration and instability problems, XLRotor dynamic analysis and training, and oil film damper design and analysis. He also has developed a practical and widely acclaimed one-day rotor dynamics course that is aimed at a broad engineering and management audience, and is based on extensive practical and analytical career experience.
