Several other analysis programs that integrate with XLRotor are available for additional cost.

XLPOCKET and XLTLTPAD were developed by Dr. John Nicholas of RMT in Wellsville, New York, and include XLRotor drivers. These full-featured programs are suitable for designing a wide variety of fixed geometry (XLPOCKET) and tilting pad (XLTLTPAD) radial journal bearings. These programs include a library of lubricants, and have extensive online help.

These programs, which are sold as a single package, can be used with or without XLRotor. For more information about these programs, visit Dr. Nicholas's web site at www.rmt-inc.com (www.rmt-inc.com/journalbearsoft.html). These programs can be purchased directly from Dr. Nicholas's company, Rotating Machinery Technology Incorporated, or from RMA, Inc.

XLUVA is a set of XLRotor style drivers for the legacy FORTRAN codes distributed by the University of Virginia. Drivers for four programs are available;

THBRG, fixed geometry journal bearings, version 1.1 or similar
THPAD, tilting pad journal bearings, version 2.16 or similar
DAMBRG, single pad pressure dam bearings, version 2.1 or similar
PDAM2D, multi-pad pressure dam bearings

To use these drivers you must already have working executable versions of these programs in your possession, or else obtain them from the University of Virginia. Rotating Machinery Analysis Incorporated does not supply the actual programs, only the drivers.

The Excel interface drivers make these programs easy to use. The old way to run these codes is to edit cryptic input files, and view results by scanning through long output files. With XLUVA you enter inputs into worksheet cells, select program options from drop down lists, and click a RUN button. An input file is automatically generated for the appropriate code, the program is executed, and results are automatically read from the program's output file and tabulated on the worksheet. An extensive drop down list of lubricants is also part of these drivers.

The worksheets for these programs can be downloaded for viewing by clicking one of these links (xluva.zip 39k file size or xluva.xls 152k file size).
